What happened
A Jersey City paving contractor, owner of a paving and concrete company, paid current and former Hudson County Parks Department directors in cash, through a sham consulting company and with free home renovations. Prosecutors say the payments were for contracts and inflated invoices. The conspiracy involved more than $1.5 million in bribes and kickbacks from 2019 through 2024. On March 17, 2026, the owner pleaded guilty in federal court in New Jersey to conspiracy to commit honest services fraud. Sentencing is pending.
