What the bribe bought

The bribes helped win waste-management contracts in Monza, Pioltello and other municipalities. At the end of the first trial stage in 2015, the value of the assets confiscated from the family was put at more than 10 million euros.

What happened

The owner of a Monza waste-services firm and his three sons took plea bargains, with sentences from three years to four years three months. A former environment councillor of Monza also took a three-year plea bargain. The 'Clean City' investigation concerned waste contracts won through bribes. In 2013 a large bribe, split between politicians and officials, was put at over one million euros. That figure comes from the investigation stage and was not restated in the 2015 plea reports.
